Maria Arsenian-Mazza has been grooming for 17 years and currently owns her own grooming salon, The Doodle Room All Breed Grooming, in Eugene, OR. She has worked in five different salons prior, with one being corporate, and has also shown and bred Basenjis for over five years. Maria does all she can to continually study dogs and the grooming industry, while running a family as well. Maria feels that, right next to safety, communicating in a professional and friendly manner with clients is most important. Maria says “We need to educate clients as well as make their pets beautiful.”
Multi-award winning creative stylist and instructor, Lori Craig has placed in almost every creative competition she has entered. She is best known for her “Lion King” design, which was undefeated and garnered her a Barkleigh Honors Award. Lori’s work has been featured on The Today Show, TLC, Regis and Kellie, ABC Nightline and on the cover of Groomer to Groomer magazine. Lori has owned Doggie Styles in Moore, Oklahoma for thirteen years and is Vice President and certifier for the National Society of Creative Stylists. Lori is also working with the Creative Groomers Association to help educate and promote creative styling worldwide.
Jonathan David, star of Animal Planet’s GROOMER HAS IT is a firm believer that a dog’s health and grooming go hand in hand. Jonathan is one of the foremost authorities on a variety of dog related topics including canine healthcare, nutrition, and general fabulousness. Jonathan’s career began as a teen in the show ring, where he specialized in Australian Shepherds and The Chinese Crested Dog. He then attended the Nash Academy of Animal Arts and went on to work for some of the most prestigious salons in NYC. Today, Jonathan David owns a high end boutique in Florida that was featured on the cover of Groomer to Groomer Magazine.
An industry veteran, Teri has owned and operated successful salons and mobiles in Florida and California. A winning grooming contest competitor, Teri was a member of three groomteam USA Gold Medal teams. A multiple Barkleigh Honors and Cardinal Crystal Award winner, Teri is a regular columnist for Groomer to Groomer Magazine as well as a popular speaker and judge at seminars and trade shows across the United States, Canada, Europe, South America, Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
Linda is an International Certified Master Groomer and President of International Professional Groomer, Inc. As a competitive groomer, Linda had many wins, including included Best in Show, Best All-Around Groomer, winning the Edemco "Total Groom Extravaganza". After putting several obedience titles on her dogs, she worked as a professional handler, finishing and putting championship points on over 60 champions in over 20 breeds and 7 groups. Her grooming career began in 1973, and her current grooming salon and self-wash is in Salem, Oregon. As an educator and certifier for IPG, Linda travels all over the world certifying, giving workshops, and judging grooming contests, and introducing the exciting new Salon Details Certification. Linda spends free time on her 50-acre ranch where she and her daughter raise and train sport horses and ponies, “developing friendships with horses".
Michell Evans is a milti-Best in Show and Best All Around winning groomer and a Certified Master Groomer through National Dog Groomers Association of America. She is the proud recipient of the Barkleigh Honors Awards for “Competitive Groomer of the Year” Award 2011, “Up and Coming Judge of the Year” 2013, “Contribution to the Industry” 2014 and “Journalist of the Year” 2016. Michell was a GroomTeam USA member 2009-2013. She was the hand stripping member of the Silver Medal Winning team in Belgium in 2011 and the Gold Medal Winning team in Spain in 2013. Her business “The Grooming Tutor” has been educating groomers since 2000.
Dr. Cliff Faver, a 1987 graduate of CSU, is the founder/owner of Animal Health Services (7 doctors, 4 groomers, 50 employees) in Cave Creek, Arizona. He is the US distributor for Iv San Bernard products. He uses the two businesses as a means of merging the grooming and veterinary professions to pursue his life’s passion of healing and helping pets. Dr. Faver is an international speaker and teaches the ISB Pet Aesthetician Certification program. He is a member of AVMA, AAHA, AZVMA, a sponsor for the CPPGA, a Board member for the Burbank Kennel Club, and previously served on the Novartis Lead Committee (with top dermatologists from USA), Hill’s International Global Veterinary Board, and is still active in a Veterinary Management Group.
Michelle Knowles, owner of All Things Paw, has over 30 years of experience as a private and professional pet care provider. Michelle is a Master Groomer and a Certified Pet Medical Aesthetician, has apprenticed, volunteered, worked, owned and managed in salons, kennels, zoos, and veterinary hospitals across the country. Michelle has also been trained in Tuscany, Italy in therapeutic work, hand stripping and advanced dermatological care. She has an ISB certification in skin and coat care, extensive experience with fear and trauma recovery, elderly pets, and a focus on managing allergic/dermatological disorders. Michelle has been published in Groomer-To-Groomer magazine and is a nationally recognized speaker in her field.
Internationally renowned creative stylist and instructor, Angela Kumpe has more placements in creative styling than anyone, worldwide. She won the first ever Barkleigh Honors Award for Creative Competitor. She is the author of A Creative Collection, a step-by-step guide to creative styling. Angela's work has been featured on Animal Planet, TLC, The Today Show, Regis and Kelly, and ABC Nightline as well as in The New York Times and on the cover of Groomer to Groomer magazine. Angela is the owner of Angela's Grooming and Pet Spa in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Suzanne has groomed for 35 years and has owned her own business for 24 years. Her most recent business was Uptown Paw in Huntington Beach, California. She ran a 6,000 square foot cage free daycare, boarding, and grooming facility. She is a charter member for both the SCPGA (past president) and CPPGA. She holds a Certified Pet Aesthetician from IV San Bernard, a CAH certification from WWPSA, working on her IPG licensing and is an award winning competitive groomer. She is owner, breeder and an AKC licensed professional handler. She is also a board member for the Burbank Kennel Club.
Shannon Moore is a Certified Master Groomer for NDGAA as well as IPG. She owns, breeds and handles Bichon Frise's in addition to her recognition for one of the top breeders of Yorkshire Terriers. She founded and owns Pink Paw Pet Spa & Resort in Birmingham AL. Shannon is an active competitive groomer.
Jodi was a 2011 and 2012 Barkleigh honors awards nominee. She is a NCMG and MPS, Meritus. She owns the puppy spa mobile grooming salon in New Jersey. Jodi was a four year member of groom team USA and ended the 2004 season as #1 team member. She won best American groomer in 2005 and 2006 at Intergroom. In 2006 she won the world championship title in the Oster invitational tournament of champions. Jodi won gold and bronze medals in 2005 in Barcelona Spain and a gold medal in 2007 in Milan Italy. Jodi has produced an instructional dvd series for all levels of grooming. She also has designed her own line of grooming apparel for groomers which is made in the USA. Jodi just released a book titled mobile pet grooming.
Cat Opson is a self taught groomer who has been working in the industry for 17 years. She has won many awards and accolades for her grooming skills in both Regular competition classes and special classes such as Creative Styling, Model Dog, and Rescue Rodeos. She has been owner/operator of Estrella Pet Grooming in Capistrano Beach, CA, for 13 years. Her specialty is poodles/poodle mixes and she boasts a large, busy clientele based solely on word of mouth advertising. She has also shown/handled dogs at AKC shows since 2000 and has earned several championship titles on her poodles owner handled, a difficult feat in the competitive world of professional handlers showing poodles in California. She is passionate about grooming and loves to share her passion with other like minds, hoping to help others avoid mistakes she had to learn the hard way being self-taught.
Owner of pawsitively pretty mobile grooming salon in Danbury, Connecticut, Mary is a certified master pet tech instructor. Mary takes a holistic approach to handling animals and holds the titles of reiki master and certified crystal therapist. The east coast chair of the professional cat groomers association of America, she is also a member of New England Pet Grooming Professionals, and is a certified canine specialist with PIJAC. She was nominated for the cardinal crystal mobile groomer of the year in 2011. She is the founder of pawsitive educational training. Mary writes for groomer to groomer and egroomer, as well as a groomwise pet first aid and care blog.
Sarah Ottinger is the owner of Sarah's Professional Dog Grooming - nominee and award winner of Best Grooming Salon in Washington State. Sarah began her career at a very young age raising, handling and showing Rottweilers with her family. Sarah attended the famed California School of Dog Grooming where she graduated top of her class, with an additional Director's Achievement Award. After graduating and working for several salons, this single mom vowed to her young son that she would buy a home and open a salon someday. Not only did she achieve her goal within her first year in business, but by using her marketing background and by staying fit and healthy, this home-based business is THRIVING. Sarah now enjoys a 6-digit salary from her beautiful home in Lake Stevens, Washington.
Christina is a certified master dog groomer (NDGAA), certified feline master groomers (CFMG), breeder of poodles and Brussels griffons was a professional handler for over 15 years finishing many different breeds to their championships. She has owned the pet connection in warren, Ohio since 1985. She won the first ever Barkleigh honors award for speaker of the year. She has won multiple best all-around and best groomed dog in show. Was on groomteam USA three different years. After winning the Oster international invitational tournament of champions in 1995, she retired from competitive grooming. With exception of being invited to and winning the les pooch poodle challenge 2008. She now works for Jarden consumer solutions/manufacturer of Oster professional products as their national training manager.
Jill Pipino started grooming in 2000. She bought a turnkey operation, turning it into a successful business offering her clients everything from daycare to spa services and personality trims to show styles. She began regularly attending seminars and trade shows at the beginning of her career, and started competing in 2007. She has been a regular in the competition circuit ever since. In an effort to further her understanding of pet styling, she has trained privately with top stylists and breeders. She also works with breeders and handlers at dog shows and is looking forward to showing her field spaniel, Brucie.
A veteran competitor, Kathy was seen in competition rings from coast to coast, winning Best in Show and Best All-Around Groomer awards from all classes in nearly every show in the U.S., garnering her positions on four consecutive GroomTeams. Her artistry also earned her multiple Creative Styling awards. She is a Barkleigh Honors nominee as well as a recipient of multiple nominations for the Crystal Awards, winning the award for outstanding service to the industry. Kathy is recognized worldwide as a respected judge, knowledgeable lecturer, and columnist for Groomer to Groomer magazine. Kathy’s salon, Pets of Perfection, was a Crystal Award nominee as one of the top four boutique salons in the U.S. and adorned the cover of the Groomer to Groomer Buyer's Guide.
Jay and his wife, Michelle, own Here Comes the Groom, a highly successful mobile grooming salon in Germantown, Tennessee. Jay has won multiple Best in Show and Best All-Around Groomer awards and helped Groomteam USA win the Gold medal in Calgary, Canada, in 2001. Jay was named American Groomer of the Year in 2001, Groomer of the Year Award at Westminster Dog Show in 2002, and Grooming Judge of the Year in 2004. In 2003 Jay won an International Gold and Bronze medal in Barcelona, Spain, helping groomteam USA win the silver team medal. He and Sue Zecco offer seminars nationally. Jay won a Barkleigh Honors Award at the event that he emceed.
Tammy has been grooming and competing for over 24 years and now manages a busy upscale salon in Hinsdale, IL. With the help and patients of her husband and many family members she made GroomTeam USA in 2008, 2011, 2012 - ultimately achieving her goal to travel to every show that was GroomTeam sanctioned for four years. Tammy has been the National Grooming Consultant for Espree Animal Products and has helped develop new products for them. She has been Secretary for GroomTeam USA since 2013, works for Andis Company as a part of their Small Animal Education Team, and received certification from the USA Judges Alliance in 2012 and now judges at shows around the Country and Internationally. Tammy is certified in Animal CPR and First Aid and is currently working on becoming a Certified Master Groomer.
Joey had 35 years of experience under industry visionary John Nash. He trained thousands of groomers as an instructor and director of Nash schools. In 1995, he became the owner of the Nash Academy of Animal Arts, New Jersey. Joey is an IJA judge and four-time nominee for Judge of the Year. Joey has appeared on numerous television shows, including Animal Planet's Dogs 101, NBC's The Today Show, and Fox's The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet. As a judge on Animal Planet's Groomer Has It, a grooming-based reality TV show, Joey brought a technical insight to the show.

Suesan, a third generation pet stylist, began working with dogs over 39 years ago. She is a Certified Master Groomer, and owns a mobile grooming business, Best All Around Groomer, serving the Chicago area. She was the winner of the Wahl 2003 Groomer of the Year Award at Westminster Dog Show and the Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards for American Groomer of the Year in 2002 - 2004. Suesan has been nominated two times for the Cardinal Grooming Contest Judge of the Year award. Since she began competing in 1995, Sue has received Best in Shows and Best All Around Groomer awards. She has been a member of the 2000 – 2005 Groom Team USA teams. She is a representative of the Wahl Clipper Corporation who is sponsoring her at Groom Expo.
